Repair FAQs

Should I call a locksmith after moving into a new home?

We would recommend that you do get a locksmith round after a new move for security reasons, as you cannot be sure if all of the keys have been handed over – or if there are various in circulation from previous tenants.

Will you damage my locks during a repair?

Our locksmiths will always try to repair and open locks non-destructively to help keep costs down. However, on some occasions, it may be necessary to break a lock if a non-destructive entry isn't possible. However, our locksmiths will always try to advise of costs before proceeding with any work.

Will you need to see person identification?

If you are actually inside the property then no identification is required. If you are locked outside of the property then a photo ID with that address on it would be required. If that’s not available then it's likely our locksmith would have to knock on your neighbour's door for proof of ID.

Should I try and remove a broken key myself?

We don’t recommend you try fiddling to extract the key yourself as this could cause further damage to the lock. Depending on where the snap occurs our locksmiths may be able to remove and repair the lock – or it may need replacing.

How long does it take to gain access to the property?

The amount of time required to complete the job can vary on the lock type and the condition of the lock itself. A common yale lock normally takes 20 – 30 minutes to repair or replace, but other locks may take longer.

If we have to make a second visit to your property to finish fixing a lock, we only charge a single call-out charge, no charge will apply to the 2nd visit. We only fit the best quality locks and all parts and labour are covered by a 12-month guarantee.

Will you have the parts to fix my lock?

Usually, yes. But occasionally we will require specialist parts that our locksmiths may not have stocked in their van. However, 90% of the time we will be carrying all the necessary parts to fix/ replace the lock.

What brands of locks do you repair?

Our locksmiths can repair and replace all types of door locks – with years of experience in the industry you won’t have to worry that we won’t know how to repair your lock.

Do you guarantee your services?

Yes, we offer a 1 year guarantee for repairs related to the initial breakdown. Please speak to a customer service representative for more information on the guarantees we offer.

Do you offer an emergency service?

We appreciate that being locked out of your property is not an emergency. That’s why we will always aim to get out to you as quickly as possible.
