To clean your hob, first ensure it's turned off and completely cooled. For ceramic or induction hobs, use a non-abrasive cleaner; for gas and electric hobs, warm soapy water or a dedicated cleaner works best. Gently scrub with a soft sponge, and dry thoroughly to prevent streaks and watermarks. For stubborn stains, use a hob scraper carefully. Regular maintenance will keep your hob looking new and functioning efficiently.

The most common cause of this is a blocked or dirty burner. Luckily this is a part that is easily cleaned. To do a thorough clean of your burners leave them in warm water and soap for 30 minutes and use a toothbrush to scrub away any built-up debris.
On most electric hobs the ‘E’ symbolises a switch being continually pressed. You could try cleaning the hob to remove any dirt or debris that has accumulated that may be affecting the switch. If this doesn’t work try resetting the electric hob at the wall. Alternatively, call a professional to repair your broken-down hob.
If one area of your hob isn’t heating up it is most likely something to do with the wire being damaged or broken. Our hob repair experts can examine this by testing the element using a multimeter.
If your gas hob won't light, it could be due to a clogged burner, a faulty igniter, or an issue with the gas supply. Ensure the burner is clean and dry, check that the igniter is sparking, and confirm the gas valve is open. If the problem persists, we recommend booking a repair with Go Assist.
