How to unlock your induction hob

A step-by-step guide

If you’ve ever found yourself unable to use your induction hob because it’s locked, don’t worry - you’re not alone. At Go Assist, we understand how frustrating it can be when your appliances don’t work as expected. But rest assured, unlocking your induction hob is usually a quick and simple process.

Induction hobs come with a locking function for safety, preventing them from being turned on accidentally. However, if you’re unsure how to disable this feature, this guide will walk you through the steps.

How to tell if your induction hob is locked

When your hob is locked, you won’t be able to adjust the heat settings or turn it on. Some models may even beep when you try to use the controls.

Look for a padlock, key, or 'P' symbol on the display - this often indicates that the hob is locked. Many models have different types of locks:

  • Child safety locks prevent children from accidentally operating the hob.

  • Cleaning mode locks allow you to clean the surface without activating the burners.

Steps to unlock an induction hob

Most induction hobs can be unlocked by pressing and holding the lock button for a few seconds. If this doesn’t work, try these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Locate the lock symbol on the control panel.

  2. Press and hold the lock button for 3–6 seconds.

  3. If your model requires a button combination, refer to your user manual.

  4. Check for an on-screen prompt and follow the instructions.

Still having trouble? Your hob may have a brand-specific unlocking method.
