5. Always try to store cool food in your fridge and never overstock it. You must allow the cold air to freely circulate through the interior of the refrigerator.
6. Clean the door seals on a regular basis to prevent the build-up of debris as this can result in the door not closing properly. If the door seals have become weak, replace them.
Fridge Energy Rating
All fridges have an energy rating that has been approved by the EU Energy Commission. As of July 2012, every fridge manufacturer is required to produce a fridge that has an energy rating of A+, A++, or A+++; A+++ is currently the highest energy rating. If you purchased a fridge before July 2012, it might not have the mentioned energy ratings, but it will have a rating of A.
A higher energy rating signifies lower energy consumption and less annual running costs for a fridge, whereas a lower energy rating means that a fridge will consume more energy and it will be more costly to run annually. Therefore, before you buy a fridge, always check the rating for its energy efficiency, the amount of power it consumes, and the running costs associated with it on an annual basis.
